As a resident of North Yarmouth several issues have risen to my attention. One of these is the plan to remove the dams on the Royal River. I disagree with this for many reasons. First, there has been little attention to the thoughts and concerns of residents. Second, a former firefighter mentioned that the Fire Department relies on the river as a water source to fight fires near the river, and the water level has been predicted to drop enough to make that impossible. Also, recreational activities might not be possible on the river if the dams get pulled because a significant drop in water level can make activities such as kayaking and canoeing much more difficult.
