Elliott Edgar Hill

AUBURN – Elliott Edgar Hill was born rather suddenly on Aug. 17, 2007.

Elliott spent his whole life making genuine connections with everyone around him. He made many close friendships at Clover Preschool, Sherwood Heights Elementary School, Auburn Middle School, Edward Little High School, and Lewiston Regional Technical Center.

Elliott loved music. He played the drums for the band in 5th grade and continued through his sophomore year. He participated in Jazz Band competitions. He also played in a band called the Amplifiers. He loved many different genres of music from Rock, Jazz, Rap, and Country. One of his favorite movies was “The Blues Brothers”, for its best car scenes and music.

Elliott was an athlete. He was an accomplished swimmer in his early childhood. He was a formidable soccer player his entire life, beginning at LAYSA and continuing with ELHS. His favorite sport was baseball. He played for New Auburn Little League, Auburn Suburban Baseball, Auburn Middle School, and Edward Little High School, where he became varsity catcher, #17. He was a great player, especially a great catcher. He always strived to be a better athlete, better student, and better human being to all around him. His teammates will all miss his genuine friendship and energy. During his entire life, Elliott also made strong, meaningful friendships with people with special needs. In addition to JV and Varsity sports, he played unified basketball to enjoy team sports with his friends with special needs.

Elliott was very enthusiastic about cars. He knew details about all makes and models of sports cars, luxury cars, basic cars, trucks, engine designs, modifications and upgrades. He was an excellent driver and also perfected driving a manual transmission with a clutch. He made meaningful friendships with his automotive classmates and instructors, as well as professional mechanics outside school. His brother Joshua felt a special bond while going for rides with Elliott in his truck.

His love for the outdoors included cutting firewood, four-wheeling, working outside with Grampy, fishing with Papa, boating and enjoying Battleship Island with Mom, and hundreds of miles of snowmobiling with Dad.

Elliott touched thousands of people and made them feel good about themselves and about him. On June 5, 2024, he left us suddenly, but he lives on in our hearts and minds as the unforgettable, unconditional friend that he was.

He left behind his brother, Joshua Hill; his mother, Heather (Elliott) Hill, his father, Rodney Lester Hill, Jr.; his grandparents Edgar and Virginia Elliott of Portland and Rodney and Anita Hill of Minot; his great-grandmother, Virginia “Bee” Capozza Dorlor of Portland; his aunts Kathryn Hill of Oakland and Allyson Hill of Scarborough; and cousins Patrick and Maxime Guite of Scarborough and Dante and Emmitt Hill-Roberts of Scarborough; and hundreds of extended family and close friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Thursday, June 13, from 4 to 8 p.m., with words of remembrance at 7:30 p.m. at Pinette, Dillingham and Lynch Funeral Home, 305 Alfred A. Plourde Parkway, Lewiston.

A candlelight vigil will be held on Sunday, June 9 at 7 p.m. at Auburn Suburban Baseball Field. We encourage his friends, teachers, coaches and family members to share memories of Elliott and wear something that reminds them of him.
