Roger Edward Ledoux, 84 3/4, a resident of Dayton, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in the presence of his family.

He was born on July 22, 1939, in Biddeford, Maine, the eldest son of the late Marc and Rollande (Gagnon) Ledoux. He met his wife, Laurette, in 1955 and they were married on April 11, 1959. Roger had a variety of jobs while supporting his growing family, but the last 18 years of his career was as a welder, retiring from The Baker Company in Sanford, Maine. Roger was really a jack of all trades as he tackled additions and
improvements to his home, helping one of his daughters build her home in addition to fixing cars, snowmobiles, tractors, etc. Roger would often set aside his own list of things to do, much to the chagrin of his wife, to help anyone who asked for his assistance, especially his family. He also saw a potential use for everything and had difficulty saying no to free items.

Roger always took a lot of pride in his lawn as well as his garden where every summer he could often be seen in his tank top and camouflage shorts tending to the garden, picking blueberries, or mowing his lawn. He was an avid and successful hunter and fisherman, and the family ate many venison dinners or venison jerky. Roger was also a devout Catholic, a parishioner of St. Phillips Church in Lyman, Maine. He loved to laugh, eat lobster on his birthday and spend Sundays with his family. Roger leaves a legacy of honesty and a strong work ethic to his family.

Roger is survived by: his wife of 65 years, Laurette (Rheault) Ledoux; and six wonderful children, Michelle (Peter), Carmen (Shawn), Bill (Diana), Priscilla, Jackie and Tricia. He is also survived by: four grandchildren, Lauren, Brad, Cody and Max; two great-grandchildren, Beckett and Marie-Michelle; one sister, Patricia Pontbriant; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A funeral outside of Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at Hope Memorial. Burial will be held at a later date.
