Marlene R. Perron

TOPSHAM – Marlene R. Perron passed away peacefully in Topsham, ME from complications of ALZ dementia on May 24, 2024, knowing she was loved and cared for. Marlene was born on Feb. 22, 1934, on the South Side of Chicago to Cathryn (Brannigan) and Michael G. Mueller where she was a communicant of St. Sabina Church and attended Loretto Catholic High School. Marlene met her future husband Roger while he was attending Loyola University School of Dentistry. She asked him to dance at the Conrad Hilton on a Friday night after school and work, and how could her parents not approve? In 1954, Roger graduated, and Marlene, Roger, and Gail moved to Chisholm, while Roger set up his practice in neighboring Livermore Falls. They built a house in Jay raised six (mostly misbehaved) children and attended St. Rose of Lima Church. She started liking those kids once they became adults! Following Roger’s death in 1982, Marlene married Jos. Patterson M.D. and moved to Pennsylvania then Florida until after Joe died in 2015. Marlene was an avid golfer and lived for her Tuesday morning ladies’ league with her dear friends and teammates Joni, Meg, and Diane at Solivita in Kissimmee, Fla. Landing a hole-in-one at Pebble Beach (not her only) might be one of her proudest memories, to which she might chant, “Oh, it’s hard to be humble, my friend. Beep-Beep” She loved skiing, swimming, and just plain moving, fast. When driving, she passed everyone in front of her. She may or may not have exhibited that same behavior with her rollator in the halls of facilities. Golf carts? Don’t ask. Most would say she had two speeds: “Off” and “Full,” and “feisty” and “fiercely independent” might be the most common descriptors of her. That mixed with quick wit and sarcasm usually guaranteed a fun and unpredictable experience. Marlene loved to travel and found world cruises the most thrilling. She even hauled a big Airstream behind a Suburban through most of North America. She was small and mighty. Marlene loved her Cabernet Sauvignon and would not have appreciated that it was dealcoholized towards the end. Sorry, Mom. Marlene was predeceased by her parents, brothers Robert, Donald, and Theodore, sister Dorothy, husbands Roger then Joe, sons Michael and David, and great-granddaughter Lucy. Marlene is survived by her daughters Gail Gleason (Craig) of Union, Susan Perron of Brunswick, Nancy Wells of Minnesota, and Judy Perron (Chris) of Greene, daughter-in-law Pam Perron of Illinois, along with 20 grandchildren and 30-plus great-grandchildren. Messages of condolence may be sent to: http://www.finleyfuneralhome.com.

A service will be announced at a later date. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, 445 Park Street, Livermore Falls, Maine. Arrangements by FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine.
