GARDINER — Maine’s newest star will return to Johnson Hall in July to headline two shows.

Julia Gagnon, 22, a Mainer whose appearances on “American Idol” captivated her home state, announced plans this week to tour across Maine.

That tour brings her to Gardiner’s Johnson Hall for shows on July 26 and July 27, with Bella Ann opening for her.

The remainder of her tour dates will be announced at a later date, but Gagnon has announced she will perform July 13 at the Moxie Festival in Lisbon Falls.

She told the Portland Press Herald earlier this week that she plans on touring the state to thank the people of Maine for their support.

Gagnon is from Cumberland, and her fiancé, Nate Haven, who plays guitar for her solo act, JULIA, is from Waterville, where earlier this year, he and his parents reflected on Gagnon’s talent and growing fame in the national spotlight.

Gagnon auditioned for The Give Your Voice All-Stars competition at Johnson Hall last winter and before that, in August 2023 she won Central Maine Idol, a local singing competition based off the TV show “American Idol.”

Johnson Hall reopened in March following years of planning and two years of renovations. In its inaugural season, Johnson Hall has hosted performances by Colin Hay, Robert Cray, Shawn Colvin and KT Tunstall, and Lyle Lovett and Lisa Loeb.

Tickets are $35 and went on sale at noon Friday on johnsonhall.org with the presale code “JULIA.”
