Judith Romano

MANCHESTER, N.H. – Judith Patricia (Bradley) Romano, 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023 at Hanover Hill Nursing Home in Manchester, NH. Born on Nov. 22, 1938 in Portland, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Louis Bradley and Dorothy (McNinch) Littlefield.

Judy was a 1956 graduate of Deering High School in Portland, and later in life she attended UNH, graduating in 1998 at the age of 58 with a bachelor’s degree in social work. She worked as a teaching assistant in the Manchester School District for over 20 years.

Judy was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished time spent with her family. She made many dear memories collecting seashells at York Beach with her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing bridge, scrapbooking with her Rochester “family,” and gardening. She was a UNH Hockey season ticket holder for over 25 years.

Judy gave back to her community in many ways. She volunteered with the Manchester Junior Women’s Club, Friends of UNH Hockey, and at Pease Air Force Base as a greeter for troops returning home. She was also a volunteer and former president of the Manchester Memorial High School Booster Club, and served as a board member for Manchester Flames and MRYHA. She found joy in being with others and supporting them with whatever they needed. Her love of volunteering was instilled in her children and grandchildren who have continued her legacy of helping others.

Judy is survived by her children, Terry Romano Jr. and his wife Lisa of Danvers, Mass., Mark Romano and his wife Kirsten of Bedford, NH, Cindy Brown and her husband Michael of Foxboro, Mass., and Derek Romano and his wife Celeste of Manchester, NH; her grandchildren, Lauren Romano of Salem, Mass., Jenna Romano of Danvers, Mass., Phebe Bowman of Greensboro, N.C., Nicholas Romano of Bedford, N.H., Caroline, Jack and Stephanie Brown of Foxboro, Mass., and Maggie Romano of Manchester, N.H. In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by her brothers, Peter and Stephen Bradley.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Hanover Hill Nursing Home and DaVita Kidney Care for their outstanding care of Judy.

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 243 Hanover St., Manchester, N.H. from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with a prayer service at 2 p.m. To view Judy’s online tribute, send condolences to her family, or for more information, visit https://phaneuf.net.
