The getaway driver in a drug robbery at a Rite Aid pharmacy in Old Orchard Beach was sentenced on Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Portland to serve 2½ years in prison.

Kyle Desmarais, 33, of Old Orchard Beach, pleaded guilty on June 20 before U.S. District Judge Nancy to a charge of aiding and abetting pharmacy robbery.

Desmarais admitted to Torresen that he drove accused robber Billy Schildroth to and from the robbery on Feb. 13, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Schildroth is accused of robbing the pharmacy by putting his hand inside his jacket and telling the pharmacist that he had “a gun and five bullets” and would shoot him in the face if he alerted anyone, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

Schildroth escaped with oxycodone and buprenorphine, and Desmarais drove him, knowing he had committed the robbery, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Schildroth, 37, also of Old Orchard Beach, pleaded guilty on Aug. 1 to a pharmacy robbery charge.
