A father and son were rescued from a boat which capsized off Scarborough Beach Saturday morning.

Peter Brown, 42, of Scarborough and his son, Samuel, 13, were duck hunting in a 20-foot boat about 400 yards off the beach at about 7 a.m. when a wave flipped the boat over, throwing the two into the water, said Dave Corbeau, marine resource officer for Scarborough.

The two were spotted standing on the hull of the boat by a bystander who contacted emergency rescue workers.

The U.S. Coast Guard put out a broadcast for help and the two were picked up by a lobster boat in the area.

The father and son were unhurt but shaken by the experience, said Corbeau.

The U.S. Coast Guard and the Scarborough Fire Department also dispatched boats to the area.
