WOOLWICH
Nicholas Buscanera, age 21, of Westport and Stephanie Little, age 28, of Edgecomb are both charged with the Class A crime of Aggravated Trafficking Heroin. The charge is aggravated as a result of the quantity of heroin seized.
A several months-long investigation of heroin distribution in the Lincoln and Sagadahoc County area led to the arrest of two Lincoln County residents and the seizure of 72 grams of heroin with an estimated street value of $72,000.
The MDEA developed information that the pair would travel out of state by car May 15 to obtain heroin and return to resell that heroin in the Mid-Coast area.
Shortly before midnight, the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 1 in Woolwich at the request of the MDEA as Buscanera and Little traveled north. During the search of the vehicle, MDEA agents seized two bags that contained a total of 72 grams of heroin. The heroin had not been packaged for resale.
In the Mid-Coast area, a gram of heroin makes about 40 bags or about 2,880 bags from this seizure at an average street sale price of $25.
Both Buscanera and Little were taken to Two Bridges Jail where bail was set at $5,000 cash; neither were able to post bail. Both will appear in court later this afternoon for a bail hearing.
Assisting the MDEA in this investigation were the Bath Police Department, Lincoln County Sheriff and Sagadahoc County Sheriff.
