In this upcoming election in June, one issue is key for me — how can our town and state attract and retain young families? To ensure a vital future for Brunswick and for Maine, our state needs family friendly policies in education, taxation, child care, and the environment.

Who will speak in Maine’s House of Representatives to make this happen? One candidate for Brunswick’s District 50 offers us that voice: Jackie Sartoris. A working woman, mother and wife, she knows first hand the challenges of juggling work-life responsibilities in a new and changing economy, of finding affordable, quality day care, the importance of great public schools for her kids and ours, and the challenge of looming college costs. Jackie also cares deeply about environmental sustainability and ensuring that all Mainers have equal access to affordable health care.

Jackie knows our concerns and she has proven herself a tireless and energetic worker for our community. She is a lawyer – and there are very few practicing attorneys in the Legislature – and has worked hard and effectively for seven years on our Town Council. Since I met Jackie five years ago, she has always struck me as a learner and problem-solver and someone who stays true to her values. For example, she is running a clean election campaign so that she does not need to take funding from special interest groups.

The choice in June is clear. Let’s bring a new vision to Augusta by electing Jackie Sartoris.
