BRUNSWICK — The Freeport High School girls lacrosse team played Gardiner (4-2) on the Bowdoin College turf Saturday and won 13-3 in the rain and wind.

Freeport improved to 6-1 and visits York on Wednesday.

Scoring for Freeport, which led 3-1 at the half, were Emily Johnson (four goals, assist), Meredith Broderick (3-3), Nina Moore (two goals), Julia Dearden (two goals) and Lindsay Cartmell and Lily Johnston with a goal each.

Scoring for Gardiner (4-2) were Allyson Day with two goals and Nickyia Lovely with one.

Freeport goaltender Molly Lane had 12 saves.

On Friday, Westbrook improved to 3-3 as Curtis Knapton scored three goals and dished out seven assists.

Sam Carroll chipped in with four goals and two assists, while Steve Shackley and John Tibbetts and contributed two goals each.

For Morse (7-1, scheduled to visit St. Dom’s on Wednesday), Dylan Crowell led with three goals.

Jake Reno, Perry Chase and Kyle Perry added an assist and two groundballs each.

Kevin Tolan had seven groundballs, Oliver Kruze five, Alex Beveridge four, Myles Day two and Harry Heald and Wesley McKenna one each.

The host Capers improved to 7-0 on Friday with a win over Brunswick.

Griffin Thoreck led with four goals, while Noah Haversat added three.

Christian Glover and Cam Glover each scored for Brunswick, which dipped to 6-2 and hosts Edward Little on Wednesday.

On Friday, Nick Dow scored the game-winner with 29 seconds left in the first OT to lift the Eagles, now 6-2 and scheduled to host Edward Little today.

Dow wound up with three goals and an assist, while Jack Mickles had three goals, Kyle Lussier one and long stick midfielders Devin Monteiro and Zack Curtis one each.

Connor Read made 16 saves in goal for Mt. Ararat.

On Saturday, host Gorham improved to 6-1 as Colin Harvey erupted for nine goals and dished out two assists.

Sam Wogan netted five goals for the visiting Falcons, who dipped to 5-3 and are scheduled to host York Tuesday.

Brady LaFrance chipped in with a goal.

“Zac Wogan had 20 saves and without him coming up with some huge saves, the game would have been very different,” said Freeport coach Geoff Arris.
