BOARD OF DIRECTORS MESSAGE: I believe it’s safe to say, spring has arrived (finally!). As we enjoy the budding trees and early flowers, it’s a good time to freshen up our business and business contacts.

With our Main(e) Streets receiving national recognition combined with a quality of life which makes us the envy of many, we are very fortunate to be a part of this flourishing community. We are also seeing a resurgence in economic growth throughout the region, including but not limited to: Wicked Joe and Mid Coast Medical Group in Topsham; CEI, Frosty’s, and Mid Coast Primary Care and Walk-in-Clinic in Brunswick; not to mention Brunswick Landing, which is setting a very high bar, and BIW and Mid Coast Medical Group in Bath, to name a few.

So how do you and your business become a part of the success being demonstrated across the area?

Consider the benefits of being an active member of your Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber. Stephen Covey was quoted as saying that “Interdependent people combine their own efforts with the efforts of others to achieve their greatest success.”

As a member of your chamber, you have a number of opportunities to participate. Marketing the region is a primary goal of the chamber, as we all recognize the importance of tourism to our region. Your participation with our marketing committee would not only be welcome, but would allow you to be part of decision making, determining the most appropriate actions in attracting prospective tourists.

Networking, networking, and networking: our Chamber After Hours continue to be extremely successful and provide you with a valuable opportunity to establish business relationships. I dare say the place to grow your business may not be behind your desk. Relationships are built from getting out into the community. Our Chamber Regional Luncheons provide an outstanding opportunity to hear from community business leaders as well as another opportunity to network.

So take advantage of these and many other forums and seminars sponsored by your regional chamber. Together we will be successful.
