To the editor:

The latest debacle in Washington, D.C., has put me very close to resolving that I will not vote for any incumbent senator or representative.

We sent these people to Washington to act in the best interests of their constituents and the best interests of the nation. They haven’t been doing that. They’re not doing it now, and I can’t see any chance of them doing it in the near future.

I will especially target those who have signed this pledge I heard about to never vote for anything that would increase taxes. Others are just as adamant about rejecting any plan that reduces spending without increasing taxes — even on the richest Americans who are saying that they should be taxed more.

Such positions do not allow for the kind of compromise this nation needs. Many of these people on both sides of the aisle are just plain obstructionists.

I say, “Let’s throw the bums out.” A new crop of people couldn’t be any worse for the country.

Let’s just be judicious and not elect people who are even more adamant than the incumbents.

We don’t need term limits. The voting booth provides all the term limits we really need.

And let’s not blame the president. Obstructionism in the legislative body can hopelessly “hog-tie” him.
