SANFORD — A car apparently passed a school bus on Route 4 near Old Post Road this morning, hitting another vehicle head-on, according to a Sanford School Department official.
Assistant School Superintendent Eric Knowlton said the school bus that was passed was not carrying children at the time.
Knowlton said it was his understanding that there were several vehicles involved in the crash.
Route 4 was closed to traffic this morning while rescue personnel and police worked at the scene.,Police could not be reached for comment.
