The Waldo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a car crash that took place Sunday afternoon on Route 1 near the Searsport and Stockton Springs town line.

Initial reports said that people were trapped and that a LifeFlight helicopter had been notified. More than one vehicle was involved.

A dispatcher for the sheriff’s office said Sunday night that more information concerning the crash would not be released until Monday morning.

The crash was reported at 2:45 p.m.
