It is worth noting that it’s been just about four years since Donald Trump was essentially fired from his job as president. He was a sore loser and a poor loser, but he was the loser nonetheless.
About two years ago, while unemployed, he announced his fourth campaign for the presidency. For the next two years he made his full-time job fundraising, rebuilding a political machine and running for president … while also having “God Bless America” Bibles printed in evil China and selling golden sneakers (of undetermined origin).
Kamala Harris, on the other hand, announced her candidacy just 107 days before this week’s election, while working as vice president. What she accomplished in those 107 days was remarkable. I remain inspired and grateful for her campaign run with energy, integrity and positivity. We can once more look forward to a peaceful transition of power. That’s how a democracy is supposed to work.
Trump’s accomplishment is also noteworthy, particularly given his history of impeachments and indictments.
It is fascinating that, considering these two candidates were polar opposites in so many ways, the country split almost down the middle in voting for them: 50/50.
What is sad is that America is already great, and that is why it’s worth fighting for. But must we fight?
