Maine’s Office of Cannabis Policy issued another recall of recreational cannabis Thursday, marking three recalls in as many months.
The recall impacts 1/8-ounce packages of cannabis flower sold from Oct. 11-24 at four dispensaries in Bethel, Biddeford and Sanford, the office said. The recall includes cannabis of the strain “The Soap” produced by Leb City Greeneries, the office said in a statement.
The flower tested positive for unsafe levels of yeast and mold in audit testing, the office said.
Potentially tainted packages of the strain were sold at Brilliant Buds in Bethel from Oct. 11-24; at Friendly Fire in Sanford from Oct. 11-23; at Green Truck Farms in Sanford from Oct. 18-21; and Stoner & Co. in Biddeford from Oct. 17-23.
Thursday marks the third recall of recreational cannabis in Maine since it was legalized in 2016. The office issued its first recall of recreational products in September. The first two recalls also cited potentially unsafe levels of mold and yeast.
More information about the recall, including batch numbers, can be found on the office’s website.
Inhaling cannabis that contains unsafe levels of mold can lead to flu-like symptoms, including sinus issues, allergies, headaches, fatigue and dizziness.
