South Portland voters elected Jessica Walker and reelected Misha Pride to the City Council and reelected Rosemarie De Angelis to the school board on Tuesday.

Pride defeated Robert Kierstead for the District 3 council seat by a vote of 7,553 to 5,757, while Walker defeated incumbent Steven Riley for the District 4 seat, 6,741 votes to 4,633 votes.

Meanwhile, incumbent De Angelis defeated challenger Georgette Stone for the school board District 3 seat by a vote of 7,732 to 4,785.

Walker

Molly Schen ran unopposed and was reelected to the District 4 seat on the school board.

Pride, the current mayor of South Portland, is an attorney who focuses on elder law and estate planning.

Walker serves on the South Portland Library Advisory Board and Waste Reduction Committee and has a master’s degree in public policy, planning and administration from the University of Southern Maine.

De Angelis

De Angelis is a longtime educator with 26 years of experience in South Portland schools and 17 years at Southern Maine Community College. She served on the City Council for six years before serving on the school board for the past two.

Citizens also approved an amendment to the city’s charter, 11,805 votes to 2,369 votes, that the Bug Light Park, Mill Creek Park and Hinckley Park properties cannot be “sold, leased, traded or given away in whole or in part” unless approved by voters at a referendum.
