Gay Abernethy Muller, was born Sept. 25, 1943 to Alfred and Meriam Abernethy in Abington, Pennsylvania. She passed away on Oct. 8, 2024.

Gay grew-up in Rockville Center, New York, graduated from Rockville Center High School and attended SUNY in New Paltz, New York. Gay married John Muller in 1967 in Merritt Island, Florida. Gay and John returned to the Northeast in 1970 and built a home in Hinesburg, Vermont in 1973. They had their daughter in 1976. Gay served as town clerk in Hinesburg before moving to Old Orchard, Maine. She and Mr. Muller parted amicably in 1984.

Gay moved to Old Orchard Beach, Maine where she expanded her line of arts and crafts. Eventually, she and her partner, George Metcalfe, left Maine and moved to the Dominican Republic. The couple retired in Port Charlotte, Florida, where they made their home until her passing.

Gay was artistic, loved crafts and created beautiful, stained-glass pieces. She was an avid reader, great cook and enjoyed the slot machines. She and George enjoyed estate sale auctions and were enthusiastic collectors.

She is survived by: her partner, George Metcalfe, of Florida; and her daughter, Margaret Muller Parker of Gray, Maine. George’s daughter, Letitia Carstensen of Massachusetts. Gay is also survived by: her brother, Alfred Abernethy of Maine; and her sister, Sandra Natale of New Jersey.

Gay was predeceased by her parents, and her brother, Brian Abernethy.

By prearrangement, there will be no formal funeral services.
