Therese L. Brochu, of Biddeford and Lyman, Maine, passed away on Oct. 26, 2024.

She was born on Sept. 12, 1927, in Saco, Maine, to Joachim and Anais (Cote) Charrette. Therese was educated in Saco and Biddeford schools.

On Aug. 30, 1947, she married Joseph Brochu at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford. They enjoyed 70 years of marriage until Joseph’s passing on Jan. 24, 2018. Therese worked for 19 years in area shoe shops and spent 10 years working for Goodwill Industries, retiring in 1996. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and had a passion for crafts, sewing, knitting, attending craft fairs, yard sales, playing the piano, and dancing. Above all, she valued family and cherished time spent babysitting her grandchildren.

Therese was preceded in death by: her husband, Joseph; her daughter, Lorraine Reggep, in 2022; her infant grandson, Keith Johnston; five brothers and four sisters; and her daughter-in-law, Glenda Brochu.

She is survived by: her son, Roger R. Brochu of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her daughter, Joanne L. Johnston and husband Bruce of Lyman, Maine; her daughter, Cecile R. Coffin and husband Samuel of Florida; her daughter,, Michelle F. Grattelo and husband Michael of Biddeford; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her brother-in-law, Richard Wimble of South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, at St. Joseph Church in Biddeford.

Therese’s family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Steven Cutone and his nurse, Julie, for their compassionate care.
