Steven Jon Gauvin

NEW GLOUCESTER – Steven Jon Gauvin, 68, passed away on Oct. 15, 2024, in New Gloucester.

Born on Dec. 21, 1955, Steven dedicated over four decades to establishing a reputation as a skilled custom home builder and was the proud owner of Golden Rule Builders. His craftsmanship spanned from oceanfront mansions to woodland log homes, marking the landscape with beauty and durability.

Steven was a loving and dedicated husband to Nancy for 40 years and a devoted father to Ellen. His fervent and hardworking nature were the cornerstones of his character, deeply influencing both his personal and professional life. Steven’s educational journey began at Holy Rosary School, continued at Caribou High School, and culminated with higher studies at the University of Maine at Machias and Southern Maine Technical College.

In his leisure time Steven was an avid golfer, a motorcycle enthusiast, and had a passion for restoring antique sports cars. His sensitive nature assured perfection in every project.

Steven will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Nancy; daughter, Ellen Gauvin and her partner Doan Wilson; mother, Roberta Walton and stepfather, Conrad Walton; brother, Randall Gauvin and his wife Ruth, brother, Daniel Gauvin and his wife Lynnell, sister, Marcia Gauvin, brother, Scott Walton and wife Hope.

He was preceded in death by his father, Captain Roger E. Gauvin, a casualty of the Vietnam War; and his sister, Debra Smith.

Also survived by Nancy’s ever supportive family, father James S. Kendall; sister, Sally and husband Ken Lawing, sister, Mary and husband Steve Cook, brother, Mike and wife Lee Kendall, and brother-in-law, Tim Tanner. Preceded in death by Suzanne Tanner. Steven will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Steven’s wishes, there will be no memorial services.
