I’ll be voting for Rosemarie De Angelis for the District 3 School Board seat in South Portland. I want someone on the board who is unwaveringly curious, always questioning, self reflecting and admitting faults, and puts in the time and energy beyond their elected duties to serve with intelligence and empathy. These are traits I’ve witnessed time after time from De Angelis. As a parent of children not yet in schools, I have paid close attention to the reconfiguration discussions. De Angelis was one of the most engaged board members in that process, endeavoring to understand its complexity while urging reasoned decision making. Did I always agree with her? No. But that’s healthy and preferable when important issues are on the table. De Angelis approaches this work with genuine care for our community and immense ability to tease out the key issues and questions at play. Experience and dedication matter. Rosemarie De Angelis exemplifies those strengths.
