Address: 21 Angell Point Road, Cape Elizabeth

Contact info: anneformaine@gmail.com, and my website, anneformaine.com, which has information about my legislative work.

Relevant experience: I have served as state senator for District 29 for four years, during which I have been the Senate chair of the Judiciary Committee, a member of the Environment and Natural Resources Committee, and Senate chair of the gun safety caucus. I represented Cape Elizabeth, in the Maine House of Representatives from December 2018 to December 2020. I am a lawyer and had a statewide private law practice for 17 years. I then became a volunteer pro bono lawyer representing Mainers with little or no income, for eight years.

Why are you running for office? I hope to continue the important work I’ve begun in the Maine Senate, work focused on the needs of our community. In particular, I’ve been effective at passing legislation that achieves these priorities: promoting community safety, protecting the environment, supporting working families and improving access to justice.

What are your top three legislative priorities? Leading the transition to clean energy and providing Mainers with resources that enable them to adapt to climate change, including repairing and mitigating damage from sea level rise that has so dramatically impacted our community. Making our homes and communities safer, particularly by leading efforts to prevent gun violence and reduce Maine’s high suicide rate. Promoting economic security for all Mainers, especially by, 1. Ensuring access to affordable childcare and health care for working families; 2. Funding education at all levels, from K-12 through community college; 3. Preparing Mainers for jobs that fill gaps in health care, technology and other sectors of Maine’s economy; 4. Increasing the supply of affordable housing; and 5. Passing fair and sustainable property tax relief.

Other comments: I’ve worked hard in the House and Senate to be accountable to my constituents and to learn through my experience as a Maine legislator how to get things done. I’ve built a record of communicating my stance on issues to our community and shepherding impactful bills through the legislative process.
