Liza Flowers scored on a penalty corner early in the first quarter and Emily Groves added a goal on a breakaway 27 seconds later Monday, helping undefeated Freeport take control on the way to a 5-0 victory against Fryeburg Academy in a Western Maine Conference field hockey game at Fryeburg.

Anna Maschino added a pair of goals, and Flowers scored again in the third quarter and also had an assist for the Falcons (14-0).

Reyna Wales stopped 11 shots for Fryeburg Academy (8-5). Maddie Kryzak had five saves for Freeport.

MARSHWOOD 2, NOBLE 0: The Hawks (4-10) received goals from Hazel Stout and Isabel Rothwell and shut out the Knights (4-9) at South Berwick.

Makayla Coy and Savannah Chapman split time in net to record the shutout.

LAKE REGION 3, POLAND 2: Mia Letarte scored in overtime for the Lakers (5-8) against the Knights (3-10-1) at Naples.

Audrey Philbrook and Abi Travis added goals for Lake Region.

Simone Moore and Arianna St. Pierre scored for Poland.

THORNTON ACADEMY 2, SCARBOROUGH 1: Olivia Lamey and Autumn Wiles scored to lift Thornton Academy (9-4-1) past the Red Storm (6-8) at Scarborough.

Shyla McVeigh assisted on both goals for the Golden Trojans.

GORHAM 8, PORTLAND-DEERING 0: Abby Chamberlin and Annabelle Collier each contributed two goals and an assist for the Rams (10-4) against the Bulldogs (0-14) at Gorham.

Emily Fadrigon had a goal and doled out three assists, and Payson Plummer, Sydney Quimby and Reece Leclerc also scored.

Emma Walsh recorded 22 saves for Portland/Deering.

BOYS’ SOCCER

PORTLAND 1, DEERING 0: Ronan Mas buried a 30-yard free kick with 28 minutes left and visiting Portland (11-2-1) closed out Deering (7-6-1).

The Bulldogs got two saves from Marco Cifuentes-Robles. Jack Borland finished with nine saves for Deering.

SOUTH PORTLAND 0, WESTBROOK 0: Isaac Crabtree finished with 10 saves for the Blue Blazes (6-6-2) and Michael Zaccaria had eight saves for South Portland (7-6-1) at Westbrook.

FALMOUTH 4, MARSHWOOD 1: Evan Mayo had a goal and an assist for the host Navigators (11-2-1) as they built a 3-1 halftime lead and downed the Hawks (5-8-1) at Falmouth.

Wyatt Carlson, Antony Grimes and Sam Yoon all chipped in with goals for Falmouth, while Kian Long had a pair of assists and Charlie Creswell was attributed with an assist.

Alex Rafferty was the goal scorer for Marshwood.
