Garrett Poulin ran for two touchdowns and tossed three scoring passes during a dominant first half for Gorham, which earned its first victory of the season, 47-7 over Westbrook, in a Class B South football game Friday night in Gorham.

The Rams (1-3) took control early, added by a sack and forced fumble that gave then possession deep in Westbrook territory. Casey Skolfield opened the scoring with a 6-yard run.

Gorham then pulled off a successful onside kick, and Poulin capped the ensuing drive with a 10-yard run.

Poulin connected with Camden Martell for a 23-yard TD pass late in the first quarter to make it 20-0. In the second quarter, Poulin had TD passes of 30 yards to Colton Jewett and 3 yards to Atticus Whitten.

Poulin then bulled in from the 3 in the fourth quarter.

Westbrook (1-3) avoided a shutout when Giovanni Staples scrambled around under pressure and found Peter Wescott for a 35-yard touchdown catch. Gorham’s Jack Karlonas returned the ensuing kickoff 95 yards.

SOUTH PORTLAND 41, WINDHAM 20: Alex Horton scored on a 54-yard pass play with 20 seconds remaining in the first half, breaking the game open as the Red Riots (4-0) defeated the Eagles (0-4) at South Portland.

The touchdown came after Windham quarterback Karl Longstreth scored on a 15-yard run that brought the Eagles within 14-7 with 1:07 left in the half.

Riots quarterback Easton Healy scored three times on runs inside the 10, Connor Gerard broke a scoreless tie with a 1-yard run early in the second quarter, and Chris Salamone ran 19 yards for a late score.

A.J. Moody caught a 21-yard scoring pass midway through the fourth quarter, and Pat Davenport dragged defenders into the end zone on a last-minute 39-yard run for the Eagles.

KENNEBUNK 48, SANFORD 20: Sam Haley connected twice with Max Andrews for first-half touchdown passes and added a pair of short TD runs as the Rams (4-0) built a 42-12 halftime edge against the Spartans (1-3) in Sanford.

Brady Stone had two touchdown runs for Kennebunk, which dominated time of possession. Moose Keys also scored on the ground.

Scott Robitaille rushed for two touchdowns for Sanford.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 72, TRAIP ACADEMY 14: Brady Plante passed for six touchdowns and rushed two scores as the Seagulls (4-0) trounced the Rangers (1-3) in Old Orchard Beach.

With star running back Wes Gallant out of the lineup because of an injury, the Seagulls did most of their damage through the air. It started with the first play from scrimmage, as Riley Provencher got behind the Traip defense and hauled in a long pass from Plante for a 54-yard touchdown.

Old Orchard then recovered an onside kick, which led to a 36-yard TD reception by Trot Moody.

Plante added a 2-yard scoring run on OOB’s next reception, then tossed four more touchdown passes – 10 yards to Brayden Mansur, 65 yards to Provencher, 15 to Moody and 1 yard to Kooper Gervais.

Thornton scored OOB’s final two touchdowns – both 8-yard runs.

Finn Fifield returned a kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.

BOYS’ SOCCER

WESTBROOK 3, CHEVERUS 1: Justin Filatrault scored two goals, Paddy Walsh had two assists, and the Blue Blazes (4-3) defeated the Stags (3-5) in Westbrook.

Filatrault finished a long cross from the right side by Walsh to give Westbrook a 2-1 lead 9:41 into the second half. He then scored on a free kick from 30 yards in the 66th minute.

Westbrook went ahead 12:18 into the game when Mustafa Saker dribbled into the goal area and fired a strike past Cheverus goalie Griffin MacLeod after Walsh sent a diagonal pass to Saker in the left corner. Henry Huntley converted a penalty kick for Cheverus with 14 seconds left in the first half to tie it at 1.

Jason McCarthy stopped six shots for Westbrook. MacLeod finished with nine saves.

WINDHAM 2, MARSHWOOD 0: Sam Rogers scored twice in the first half, Lukas Hammond made six saves, and the Eagles (7-0) extended their season-long shutout streak with a win over the Hawks (4-3) in Windham.

Rogers put in a feed from Layth Jabbar in the 24th minute and added an unassisted goal in the in the 26th.

Carter Shaw made 11 saves for Marshwood.

GREELY 6, POLAND 0: Owen Piesik and Connor Skillin each produced a pair of first-half goals as the Rangers (7-0-1) beat the Knights (2-6) in Cumberland.

Hunter Caiazzo and Sylas Almy chipped in with second-half goals.

SOUTH PORTLAND/WESTBROOK 6, BONNY EAGLE 1: Jane Phillips put in three goals to lead the Red Riots (3-2-1) past the Scots (0-7) at South Portland.

Phillips and Lily Dorrington each scored twice in the first half as the hosts built a 4-0 lead, Mackenzie Hall chipped in with a second-half goal, and Maeve Tardif and Sophia LaChance were credited with assists.

Ella Karlis broke up the shutout bid in the fourth quarter, assisted by Emma Farrand.

TRAIP ACADEMY 2, WAYNFLETE 1: Cora Greenwood scored on a rebound off a penalty corner in the first quarter, and Eden Varney converted a breakaway in the third quarter as the Rangers (3-4) edged the Flyers (4-3) in Portland.

Noelle French assisted on Varney’s goal. Madison Evans made four saves for Traip.

Waynflete’s goal came in the fourth quarter, as Sumeya Hussein set up Lucia Infantine. Mya Clark made two saves for Waynflete.

WELLS 2, SACOPEE VALLEY 0: Lily Courtois broke a scoreless tie midway through the third quarter as the Warriors (2-6) blanked the Hawks (0-4) in Wells.

Grace Cooper recorded an insurance goal six minutes left.

BOOTHBAY 4, TELSTAR 0: Magen Burge tallied two goals and an assist as the Seahawks (2-4) defeated the Rebels (0-8) in Bethel.

Mariah Smith and Bailey Lewis also scored.

CONY 15, OCEANSIDE 0: Abby Morrill had five goals and two assists, and Helen Dineen added four goals and three assists to pace the Rams (7-2) to a win over the Mariners (0-7) in Rockland.

Casey Monson and Natalie Dube each chipped in with two goals. Kiarra Marriner and Caelyn Lebel also scored, and Caroline Hendrickson had seven assists.

THURSDAY’S BOYS’ SOCCER

YARMOUTH 4, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 0: Zacarias Binda finished with a goal and two assists, Nate Buchanan added a goal and an assist, and the Clippers (5-1-2) defeated the Raiders (5-3) in Yarmouth.

Buchanan scored with an assist from Binda, then set up Owen Hayes as Yarmouth built a 2-0 lead in the first seven minutes.

Binda assisted Mateo Coury in the second half before knocking home a feed from Lucas Hayner on the final goal.

Will Raymond stopped four shots for the shutout, while Fryeburg’s Aidan Clement made seven saves.
