GORHAM – Paula Ann Craigie Caldwell of Gorham died at Gorham House on Sept. 15, 2024. She was 78.
Born in Augusta on Christmas Day in 1945, Paula grew up there before moving to Portland with her parents, Charles and Pauline Craigie. She graduated from Deering High School in 1964. She married Richard Caldwell in 1965, and they made a home in the Riverton neighborhood of Portland before moving to Gorham in 1996.
Paula worked at the Maine Motor Rate Bureau in Portland for several years, and later in life at Shaw’s in South Portland.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard; and by her sisters Rachel Rose Wright and Jacqueline Rose.
Paula is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Neal Rush of Standish, and her daughter, Christine Caldwell of Columbia, S.C. She is also survived by her grandchildren, who will greatly miss “Nana”, Justin Rush of Portland, Jacob Rush of Standish; Daniel and Jessica Rush, and great-grandson, Logan Rush, of Buxton; and Becket Ames and Jude Ames of Columbia, S.C.; Allisha Ouelette, Bill Gray, and Margaret Smith were cherished friends who gave special comfort to Paula in recent years.
A graveside service will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Portland on Sept. 28, at 10:30 a.m.
