Andre Clark, Marshwood junior: Despite being injured most of the season prior to league and state championships, Clark was under the previous all-time Maine best of 10.70 seconds in the 100 meters in all six of his races, establishing a new standard of 10.59 seconds on the way to titles at the Class A meet and the New England championships. Clark also won the Class A 200 in 22.05 seconds and was part of the state championship 400 relay team.

 

Kaleb Colson, Sumner senior: Colson posted the fastest 800-meter time by a Mainer this year –1:55.16 – while finishing eighth at the New England championships. He also won the Class C 800 in a meet-record time of 1:56.07 and anchored Sumner’s winning 3,200 relay.

 

 

Nolan Feyler, Gorham senior: Feyler was the best 400-meter runner in the state this year, winning the Class A title in 48.49 seconds and posting Maine’s season-best time of 48.34 at the SMAA championships. At the Class A meet, Feyler was second to Andre Clark in the 200 (22.41) and anchored the winning 1,600 relay.

Griffin Gammon, Gorham junior: A repeat Varsity Maine All-State pick, Gammon successfully defended his New England championship in the high jump by clearing 6 feet, 9 inches. He won the Class A title, and had the season’s best jump when he cleared 6-9 3/4 at a regular-season meet. Gammon also placed fifth in the long jump and seventh in the javelin at the state meet.

 

Maddox Jordan, Noble senior: The 2024 Varsity Maine Boys’ Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and a repeat outdoor All-State pick, Jordan won Class A titles in the 800 (1:57.68) and 1,600 (4:15.20) and the New England championship in the 1,600 (4:15.38). At the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in Philadelphia, he set a Maine all-time best mark of 3:55.71 in the 1,500 en route to finishing 25th in the mile.

 

Sam Laverdiere, Lake Region junior: At the Class B meet, Laverdiere won the 3,200 (9:32.87) and was second to Carter Libby in 1,600 (4:19.72). Laverdiere followed that up by posting the fastest 3,200 time of the season by a Mainer, finishing 12th at New Englands in 9:28.91. He was also ninth in the New England 1,600.

Carter Libby, Gray-New Gloucester senior: Also a starter on the Patriots’ Class A championship basketball team, Libby won the 800 (1:57.3) and 1,600 (4:16.87) at the Class B state meet. He finished eighth in the 1,600 (4:19.93) at New Englands.

 

 

Ryker Paradis, Lewiston junior: Paradis won the shot put (56-10) and discus (170-11) at the Class A meet. His discus throw was the furthest by a Maine athlete this season, and he also topped the shot put list with a best of 57-7 1/2.

Stephen Pierre, Leavitt junior: Pierre won three events at the Class B meet, taking the 110 hurdles (15.09), 300 hurdles (40.87) and long jump (21-9). He was also was second in the high jump (6-4).

 

 

 

Joseph Richards, Winslow senior: Richards won four events at the Class C meet to key Winslow’s team championship. He swept the sprints, taking the 100 (11.08, after a meet-record 10.96 in the prelims), 200 (22.48), and 400 (50.38), and also was best the long jump at 22-0 1/2. Richards recorded the state’s fastest 200 time in the 2024 – 22.01 at the KVAC championships.

Arnaud Sioho, South Portland junior: Sioho, the 2024 Varsity Maine Boys’ Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year, became just the third boy to win four individual events at a Class A meet. A week earlier, he set four school records at the SMAA championships. He capped his season by winning the triple jump at New Englands. Sioho had the best marks in Maine in the 110 hurdles (14.60), 300 hurdles (38.67), long jump (23-7 3/4) and triple jump (48-4 3/4).

Logan Walton, Fryeburg Academy senior: A member of the 2023 Varsity Maine Football All-State team, the Nova Scotia resident won both the 100 (11.09) and 200 (22.24) at the Class B meet, beating defending champion and 2023 Varsity Maine Athlete of the Year Miles Burr on Burr’s home track at Mt. Desert Island in both events. Walton broke Burr’s Class B record in the 100 with a 10.8 in the prelims.

 

COACH OF THE YEAR

Dave Kahill, South Portland

Kahill was also the boys’ indoor coach of the year, and the Red Riots used a similar script to win Class A by a half-point over Gorham. Sioho’s individual brilliance led the way, but the Riots had lots of other contributors, with 11 athletes scoring in individual events.
