Peter Doukas Robinson

LEWISTON – Peter Doukas Robinson, 66, died unexpectedly at his home on June 24, 2024.

A native and long-time resident of Lewiston, Peter was a kind, gentle soul who loved his family, friends, church, and the City of Lewiston. An extraordinarily gifted person, his intellect was as keen as his interests were varied.

The son of Edward and Maria Doukas Robinson, and a 1976 graduate of Lewiston High School, Peter earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Juris Doctor degree from George Mason University School of Law. He was a financial analyst in the Treasury group at TD Bank for the past several years, where he received special recognition for his work in liquidity risk analysis. He was a leader in the Lewiston Casino Initiative, a pursuit that reflected his fervent desire to enhance the economy of Lewiston. Prior to that, Peter served in several consulting roles, and in legal and technological capacities for firms in the Washington D.C. area, where his education and training in both the computer science field and law served him well.

Peter served as Treasurer of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lewiston, a position he held for 10 years. He was an active member of the Parish Council and was instrumental in organizing and operating their annual Greek Festival.

Peter was passionate about cooking for his family and friends, and was a regular co-host of gatherings on holidays and other occasions with his sister, Ann Robinson. He enjoyed pairing fine wines with food, and looked forward to collaborating with his cousin, Stephen Dukas, Stephen’s wife, Mary Jo, and Ann, to stage an annual soiree for a small group of friends.

He enjoyed playing third base in softball leagues, as well as attending Red Sox games. Peter participated regularly in Trivia games with the Bangers team around the Greater Portland area; his broad knowledge of various fields was a great asset to the team. He relished his summers at Old Orchard Beach.

Peter’s beloved dog, Cotton, was a loyal companion for many years, and brought tremendous joy to his life. Much loved and cared for, Cotton lived to 18.

Peter will be missed deeply by his family and friends, who will always remember his acts of kindness and his wonderful sense of humor.

Survivors include his sister, Ann Robinson, of Portland; his uncle, Jack Robinson (Marylou Robinson) of Sarasota, Fla.; his cousins Stephen Dukas (Mary Jo Dukas) of Wayne, W.Va., Danni Fitzgerald (Kevin Fitzgerald) of Casco, Lindy Brooks of Mechanic Falls, and Dawn Robinson of Poland.

Peter was predeceased by his parents; his aunt, Stella K. Doukas, his uncles Peter “Steve” Dukas and Capt. Peter Doukas; and his cousin, Cindy Robinson.

Funeral services honoring Peter’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, June 29 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Lewiston. Committal services will then follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Auburn.
