We can beat the heat without air conditioning. I grew up where it was regularly hot and humid. We would take cold baths to cool off before bed time.

For daytime, I have a simple way to cool down when I get too hot. If you’re in generally good health, try this. Take a large bucket or basin (I use a 5-gallon bucket) and fill it with cold water from your hose. Remove your shoes and socks, roll up your pants, and dunk your lower legs into the bucket. Run a slow hose in the bucket while you soak – less than a gallon a minute. In 20 to 30 minutes, you will be cool as a cucumber. Your blood cools and circulates to the rest of your body.
