David Bancroft and Allen Daggett were the winners last Tuesday in a five-way race for two at-large seats on the Kennebunkport Board of Selectmen.

Bancroft was the top vote-getter with 516 votes, followed by Daggett with 488. Robin Phillips received 392 votes, Stedman Seavey received 391, and Frederick Stafford received 320, according to unofficial results from the Town Clerk’s office.

“I feel honored and humbled with the results,” Bancroft told the Post.

During his first term on the Board of Selectmen, Bancroft hopes to address the issues of climate change and housing in Kennebunkport, and said he is looking forward to working with the Board.

“I look forward to being open and accessible to town residents,” Bancroft said.

Daggett agrees that the issue of climate change should be at the forefront of his term on the Board of Selectmen.

As a lifelong Cape Porpoise resident, lobsterman, and business owner, Daggett said he has seen the effects of climate change on the town.

“Cape Porpoise, Goose Rocks Beach, and the downtown areas have been flooded out many times,” Daggett said.

During his term on the Select Board, Daggett plans to use the knowledge he has gained serving on the Board in the past to address this issue.

School Board

Kennebunkport voters chose newcomer Rachel Kennedy-Smith and incumbent Megan Michaud to represent the town on the RSU 21 School Board.

Michaud ran unopposed, receiving 879 votes, while Kennedy-Smith unseated incumbent Diane Franz with 585 votes. Michaud’s term will expire in 2027, and Kennedy-Smith’s will expire in 2025.

In Arundel, newcomer Kirstan Watson and incumbent Britney Gerth were chosen to represent the town on the RSU 21 School Board.

Watson bested Rodney Sparkowich with 328 votes. Gerth ran unopposed for the final year of an unfinished term on the School Board, and received 416 votes. She will succeed former Chair Erin Nadeau, who resigned in May.
