Incumbents Kortney Nedeau and Lisa Pratt, and newcomer Karen Plattes, were the winners last Tuesday in a six-way race for three at-large seats on the Kennebunk Select Board.

Nedeau received 1,355 votes and Pratt 1,267, followed by Plattes with 1,155, Jonathan Fallon with 922, Wayne Berry with 876, and Richard Morin with 843, according to results from the Town Clerk’s Office. Four hundred and ninety-nine votes were left blank.

“I’m ready for three more years,” Nedeau said.

As a fifth generation Kennebunk resident, Nedeau is committed to listening to her neighbors any day of the week, and hearing the challenges they face in town, she said.

During her second term on the Select Board, Nedeau hopes to focus on issues like housing, sea level rise, communicating with the public, and even the issue of the town-mandated trash bags ripping.

“This is my chosen stress,” Nedeau said. “I love to serve our town and our neighbors.”

Pratt also looks forward to another term on the Select Board, and emphasized the town’s need to focus on climate change.

Throughout her first term on the Select Board, Pratt has served as vice chair of the Climate Action Task Force.

“I ran for reelection to continue this work,” Pratt said.

Newcomer Plattes agrees that climate change is an important issue to focus on in Kennebunk.

With extensive experience managing state and federal government grants, Plattes brings practical knowledge to her first term on the Select Board.

“I think we can all use a good, balanced voice, and I think I can provide that,” Plattes said.

Kennebunk voters chose newcomers Matthew Stratford and Abigail Spadone to represent the town on the RSU 21 School Board.

Stratford received 1,475 votes and Spadone received 1,389, followed by Rebecca Lewis, who received 967.

Stratford and Spadone will succeed incumbents Amanda Downing and current School Board chair Peter Sentner, who opted not to run for a second term.

Each member will serve a three-year term.
