Scarborough voters passed the school department’s $56.1 million budget on Tuesday, 1,725 to 1,276.

Combined with the municipal portion of the budget, Scarborough’s total fiscal year 2025 budget will be $85.6 million, up 4.2% from the current budget. It carries a tax increase of about 1.5%, not including the impact of the town-wide revaluation.

The school board cut $1.4 million from its original budget proposal.

School department administrators were not available for comment Wednesday, before the Leader’s print deadline.

Scarborough voters also elected Shannon Lindstrom and Alissa Peterson to the Board of Education on Tuesday. Lindstrom, an incumbent and current chair of the board, and Peterson, a newcomer with experience on the School Building Advisory Committee, ran unopposed.
