Robert James Towne, 79 years, a resident of Kennebunk, went to his heavenly home with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 26, 2024, in the arms of his wife and daughter.

He was born in Biddeford, on Oct. 24, 1944, and graduated from Kennebunk High School class of 1963 after which he enlisted in the US Army. He married his high school sweetheart on July 2, 1966. They had two beautiful children, Amy and Ryan.

After leaving the Army, he went to work at Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut. Upon returning to Maine, he worked at K&E in Kennebunk until he went to work at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 37 years.

He was a great hockey fan and followed the Boston Bruins. He enjoyed watching his son Ryan and grandson Jacob play hockey for Kennebunk High School. He also followed the Boston Red Sox. He was an avid reader and studied his Bible daily. He was a great husband, father and great Bumpa and shared his faith with all.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Geraldine (Green) Towne of Kennebunk; his daughter Amy Martel and son Ryan Towne; grandchildren Mathew and Jacob Cyr and Heather Martel, all of Kennebunk, and his beloved siblings Jack and Jean Mullins of Massachusetts, and a nephew, Joseph.

Visiting hours will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, ME 04043. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Kennebunk.
