David C. Starkweather, 91, of Biddeford, Maine, passed away due to complications from a previous injury on Sept. 16, 2023.

Born on May 2, 1932, in Plainfield, New Jersey, David was a man of integrity and service. He proudly served his country in the US Army from 1952 to 1956, embodying dedication and patriotism.

David’s professional journey led him to become a respected engineer at Western Electric Co. in North Andover, Massachusetts, where he worked diligently from 1957 to 1982. He furthered his education, earning a master’s degree from Tufts University, a testament to his commitment to excellence.

He is survived by: his loving spouse, Dorothy N. Starkweather; his sons, Peter S. Starkweather, and Douglass A. Starkweather; and his sister Eleanor Snellgrove.

Although his son, Richard D. Starkweather, preceded him in death, David’s legacy lives on through his surviving family.

In addition to his immediate family, David is survived by his grandchildren, Zachary, Harrison, Frank, Michael, Morgan, Casey, Jack, and Paige. He was predeceased by his brother, Louis Starkweather.

David will be remembered for his distinguished military service and his successful career as a professional engineer. His dedication to his work and his family was unwavering, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Outside of his professional life, David found joy in hobbies such as golfing, hiking, canoeing, and photography. These passions enriched his life and brought him closer to nature and his loved ones.

David’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love and gratitude of all who cherished him.
