MADISON — The Madison-based manufacturer TimberHP is partnering with a subsidiary of a large French company to expand its distribution of sustainable wood insulation products in the United States and into Canada.

CertainTeed Inc. is to distribute TimberHP’s products across North America, with exclusive distribution rights in Canada, TimberHP said in recent announcement.

The partnership “aims to elevate sustainable construction solutions and expand TimberHP’s market reach,” according to the announcement.

Two of TimberHP’s products, TimberBatt and TimberFill, are now available in the United States and will soon be available in Canada, the company said.

CertainTeed, which has its corporate headquarters in Malvern, Pennsylvania, is a subsidiary of the French multinational corporation Saint-Gobain and sells sustainable interior and exterior construction products. NOVA by Saint-Gobain, another subsidiary of the French company that helps startups grow, facilitated the partnership.

TimberHP, a division of Belfast-based GO Lab Inc., uses renewable resources to produce wood fiber insulation products, according to the company’s website. The products are the first of their kind in North America.

The company began operations last year at the former Madison Paper Industries mill on Main Street in Madison. The facility closed in 2016, causing more than 200 workers to be laid off. The renovation of the mill, funded largely through public-private partnerships, cost about $150 million.

When its production facilities are completed, which is expected later this year, the manufacturer has said it expects to employ 114 people in Madison.

“It is a huge vote of confidence in our technology and our team at TimberHP to partner with a brand as innovative and impactful as CertainTeed,” TimberHP CEO Joshua Henry said in a statement. “It is essential that we mold the future of construction to be exceptionally easy, effective, energy-efficient and sustainable, and we look forward to addressing those industry needs together.”
