Reuben David Slotsky

PORTLAND – Reuben David Slotsky, 83, passed away on May 17, 2024, at his home in Portland. He was born on Sept. 29, 1940, in Portland, son of the late Mark and Ruth (Mirochnick) Slotsky.

Reuben graduated from Deering High School in 1958, and from Bowdoin College in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. He served in the United States Air Force.

Living in Arlington, Va., Reuben dedicated a majority of his career to the Social Security Administration as a Paralegal Specialist, retiring in 1997 and returning to Portland in 2008.

Reuben was avid tennis player, runner, and reader. With an endless quest for knowledge, he could often be found researching various topics at local libraries. He was well-known in the Jewish community and took great pleasure walking the streets of Portland enjoying the sights and striking up conversations along the way.
