David Alex Chaisson

LEMON GROVE, Calif. – David Alex Chaisson died of cancer at 67 years old, on May 15, 2024, at his home in Lemon Grove, California, surrounded by family and friends.

David was born on Sept. 3, 1956, in Portland, Maine, to Nola and Joseph Chaisson, and graduated from Westbrook High in 1975. He and his family had a camp on Little Sebago Lake, where they spent summers water skiing and boating.

In 1983, David moved to San Diego, California, where he met the love of his life, Kathy Fenstermacher. They were married on Aug. 30, 1986, and moved to Lemon Grove, where they raised their family.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in computer science, David worked as an inspector in aerospace. His career included working for General Dynamics, Hamilton Sundstrand, and General Atomics.

David loved singing and playing his harmonica at the Lemon Grove American Legion on Friday Nights; he loved riding his 2007 Ultra Classic Harley Davidson, and 4-wheeling his Jeep Rubicon in the Anza Borrego Desert, all with his wife Kathy by his side.

Preceded in death by his father Joseph, David is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathy; his daughters Jessica Tuazon (Reden), and Monica Julian (Brandon) and their baby boy, Bryson; his beagle, Bailey; his siblings Paul, Anne Smith, Steve, Valerie Rust, and Pete; his sisters- and brothers-in-law Doug, Carl, and Karen Fenstermacher; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout the country.

A celebration of life is planned for David’s birthday in September. Throughout his life, David was known for his quick humor, goofy impressions, and ability to fix just about anything, and doing so meticulously. He made friends and started conversations everywhere he went, never to miss telling even complete strangers his stories and life experiences.

David will always be remembered for his love of music, family, and a good IPA.
