I wish that someone could explain to me just exactly what they mean when they use the word “woke” in a derogatory manner.

According to the dictionary, “woke” means to be awake, to be aware of what is going on around you. That’s what I have always thought it meant. I consider that to be a good way to be, to know what is happening and to be able to react to it.

Do those who think that “woke” is a bad word think that it’s better to go around half-asleep? Is that what they are doing? It certainly seems that way to me.
