Corinne Marguerite Troiano
SANFORD – Corinne M. Troiano, 78, of Sanford danced into her next life on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, with her favorite music playing and family by her side.
Corinne was born in Sanford, on Sept. 30, 1944, the youngest of five children of Conrad and Delina (Bourque) Emard. She grew up, lived, and loved her entire life in Sanford. She attended St. Ignatius School and married 20-year Navy Veteran Antonio “Tony” Troiano in 1963. Together, they built a beautiful life raising and caring for their children along the way.
Corinne always had an open-door policy – there was no need to call, just come over; everyone was always welcome. She hosted summers in the backyard pool, fed and entertained the neighborhood kids a practice she continued well into grandchildren years.
She and Tony spent 17 winters enjoying the warm weather in The Villages, Fla. Many wonderful memories of dancing downtown and traveling to their many activities on their golf carts were made in their second home. Every life has its bumps and for Corinne it was a bad back. If there was anything that stopped her in her tracks or held her back, it was that awful lower back. Those who knew her were aware of her plight, but for those who did not, she kept her discomfort as tight-lipped as an award-winning family recipe.
Despite her physical struggles she always tried to be the life of the party. She rarely missed an opportunity to grab attention and loved to banter with anyone on the merits of her talent and beauty – of course, always in jest – or maybe not! Corinne was always primed to enjoy a meal or cocktail with friends and family. Whether it was a lobster dinner with margaritas or whoopie pies with prosecco, any place with friends and family was a perennial happy spot.
Once widowed, she found new friends and copious amounts of fun at the Trafton Senior Center, which is where she met Bob. Both she and Bob enjoyed each other’s company, complementing each other’s personalities. They spent several great years eating out, playing games, and enjoying their mutual friends from The Trafton and beyond.
Corinne lived her life on her own terms, including her last chapter. As a matter of fact, she changed the pronunciation of her first name during her last 10 years of life. It was always easy to know how she felt, or what she wanted. Those who knew her, knew she was not shy! They also knew that they could come to her with anything. She enjoyed people, and listened to their life stories and while passing on the importance of love, health and happiness.
Corinne was predeceased by her husband Tony, of over 50 years, in 2014. She is survived by her sister, Mariette, her son, Jeffrey Troiano, and his wife Abby Dubay-Troiano, her daughter, Tracy Troiano, and her partner Robert Endre, and as well as her grandchildren, Justin, Courtney, Jordan, Olivia, Matthew and Beckett.
A private graveside service will occur at Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Carll, Heald and Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street, Springvale. To view Corinne’s memorial page or share an online condolence, please visit http://www.blackfuneralhomes.com.
The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to The Trafton Center in Sanford, a subsidiary of the YMCA.
