STANDISH – James Eric Galipeau, 62, from Standish, died peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family on April 26, 2023. He was born on July 31, 1960, in Portland, the son of Albert T. Galipeau and Solange (Gaudreau) Galipeau.
James graduated from Westbrook High School, class of 1978. James was employed at SD Warren paper mill for a total of 42 years. He enjoyed fishing, clam digging, setting lobster traps, skiing, sledding, swimming in his spare time. James loved everything that involved being outdoors with friends and family.
He was a loyal Westbrook Eagles Arie member @297. James enjoyed playing pool games, laughing, and being with friends. In addition, he met his lovey bride, Carol Ann (Michaud) Galipeau at the Westbrook Eagles. They celebrated 38 wonderful years of marriage in June.
In addition to his parents, James was predeceased by his sister, Rachel.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Carol Ann (Michuad) Galipeau, are his two sons, James Eric Galipeau II and his fiancé Kristian D. Hanna of Standish, and his son, Andrew Galipeau and his wife Kimberly (Tryder) Galipeau of Windham; two brothers, Peter Galipeau and wife Helen of Ocala, Fla., and John Galipeau and wife Ann of Limington, two sisters, Elaine Salamone of Gorham, and Jacqueline and husband Jim Fitzgerald of Windham; along with many nieces and nephews.
The family thanks the staff at Mercy Fore River ICU for the love and care James received while there.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, May 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais and Segee, 35 Church St., Westbrook.
