Dolores E. (Ferry) Rizzotti

PEABODY, Mass. – Dolores E. (Ferry) Rizzotti, 97, beloved wife of the late Sammy Rizzotti who passed away on April 3, 2020, died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023 at Beverly Hospital.

Born on Oct. 5, 1925 in Peabody, Mass., she was the first of four children born to Joseph and Madeline (Semas) Ferry. Dolores graduated from Boston Business School and worked at Sylvania where she rose to the position of Inspector of Quality Control over the course of her 43-year career. Dolores and Sam married in January 1951. He also had a career at Sylvania in charge of many aspects of the manufacturing process.

Dolores is survived by her son, Dana Rizzotti and his wife, Erika McCaffrey of Allston, Mass., daughter, Jacynth Freeman and her husband, Mike of Buxton; two grandsons, Michael Freeman and fiance Annie Ashby, and Christopher and Dylan Freeman; a sister, Shirley Luz of Boxford. Mass., a brother, Parris Ferry of Carver, Mass.

She was the sister of the late Joseph Ferry of Peabody, Mass. She was also predeceased by sisters-in-law Pauline and her husband, Lenny Tribeau of Salem, Mass., Mary and her husband, Teddy Urbanski of Salem, Mass., brother-in-law, Edwin Ogiba of Ipswich Mass., sister-in-law, Ellen Ferry of Peabody, Mass., and sister-in-law of Frank and Priscilla Rizzotti of Essex, Mass., Stephen and Florianne Rizzotti of Salem, Mass., Orlando and Louise Rizzotti of Salem, Mass., and Joseph and Margaret O’Donnell of Salem, Mass. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Dolores was a caring and compassionate person; friendly and courteous and always a lady with style. An avid reader of books and magazines, she was extremely knowledgeable on many, many subjects. A lover of words – their origin, expression, meanings and usage – she loved all authors and all libraries.

Her other passion was dancing. She took lessons as a child and continued with music and dancing to the present time. Until recent years, Dolores and Sam cut the rug weekends at various North Shore hotspots. They always danced every number and had the clothes and shoes to go with their dance floor steps.

A funeral service will be held for both Dolores and her late husband, Sammy at the Conway Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, Mass. on Saturday, April 8, at 11:30 a.m. Visiting hours will be held prior to the service on Saturday morning, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Due to Covid, the service will also be available livestream by visiting the funeral home’s website. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. A luncheon at the Danversport Yacht Club will follow the service.
