Paul Emile Boucher

WESTBROOK – We are sad to report that Paul Emile Boucher, 87, of Westbrook and Stratton, has passed away just before lunch time on Valentine’s day 2023. He was peacefully reunited with his parents, Raoul and Alphonsine Boucher, sisters Antoinette, and Gabrielle, and brothers Adrien, Andre, Gerard, Maurice, and Victor, and niece Christina Bonner. He is survived by 18 nieces and nephews and his long time love Betty McManus of Marshfield, Mass.

Paul was born and raised in Westbrook graduating from Westbrook High School in 1953. He worked briefly at Cushman’s Bakery before joining the Army during WWII. He served honorably in Korea, 30 miles from the DMZ. His duties included pre-flight safety checks and maintenance of Army helicopters. After his military service Paul returned to Westbrook and enjoyed a long career at S.D. Warren retiring at 56.

Paul enjoyed a full life as a sportsman hunting, fishing, boating, and gatherings with friends wherever there was woods and water. He especially enjoyed Maine winters, skiing Sugarloaf, and long 100-mile snowmobile trips with Betty and friends. Paul enjoyed vacationing with Betty. In addition to the local adventures they explored Canada, Hawaii, Bermuda, Aruba, and Italy. Paul will be remembered for the kindness, generosity, and gentle sense of humor.

Paul’s family would like to thank the staff of the Enclave and Springbrook for ensuring that Paul was well cared for and comfortable in his final days.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday Feb. 26, at the Westbrook Chapel of Dolby, Blais & Segee, 35 Church Street, Westbrook.
