BRUNSWICK – Jane T. McMurray, 97, passed away peacefully in her long-time Brunswick home on Jan. 31, 2023.

Born in Lewiston, she was the daughter of Gerald S. and Mary Linehan Sedgley. She graduated from Portland High School in 1943, attended Bates College and graduated from Maine General Hospital’s nursing school.

Jane served as a U.S. Air Force nurse 1951-1953, treating returning wounded from Korea at Westover AFB in Massachusetts where she met her future husband, William McMurray. Married in 1954 and having a son in 1956, the young Naval couple were deployed to bases in Italy and in the U.S. Jane and her son relocated to Brunswick in 1964, where she would live for the next 59 years, including 26 as a nurse serving patients at Regional Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her beloved son and daughter-in-law, William McMurray Jr. and Kathy Strand, of Portland.
