Martin R. Read Jr.

PORTLAND – Martin R. Read, Jr. peacefully passed on July 12, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Rehabilitation & Residence in Portland. He was born in Portland on Feb. 7, 1937 and is where he grew up.

He joined the Air Force in 1955, where he received his GED, and served until 1958. He was happiest hunting or fishing, alone or with friends. He enjoyed a close relationship with Larry and Claudia Stoddard. He was creative, working with tile, his life’s work.

He was predeceased by his parents Martin R. Read, Sr. and Doris Read; sister Lorraine, and first wife Frances. He is survived by wife Linda L. Read, brothers Jim Read, Len Read and John Read; son Martin R. Read II and his wife Jan; grandchildren Colin Read and his wife Myranda and Jim Read, Jr.; great-grandchildren Eilie, Katie and Kevin; and several nieces and nephews.

At his request, there will be no formal gathering. There will be an informal gathering at a later date. He is missed.
