On March 3, my sisters and I (six of us) were visiting Portland from Boston. After a great lunch at Commercial Street Pub, we were heading onto Exchange Street when my sister fell in the middle of the street. We were in shocked at how hard she fell, on her face.

The outpouring of care and attention was immediate and from all directions. Two passers-by, Nick and Becky, jumped in to help. Nick called 911 and directed traffic; he was so kind and supportive. Becky, a nurse, stayed with my sister at the curb. She too was calm and reassuring.

A local shop owner brought out a bag of ice and offered his help. We are so grateful! The EMT response was professional, smart and caring. They did an assessment and offered sound advice.

Thank you to all of you! Portland has left a wonderful impression on us and we want to sing your praises and shout out a big “thank you”!
