Catherine Elizabeth Campbell

SOUTH PORTLAND – Catherine Elizabeth Campbell, 84, passed away peacefully on Jan. 22, 2022, surrounded by her family, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough after a courageous battle with cancer. She grew up in the Libbytown section of Portland, the daughter of Edward and Catherine Foley, with her younger brother Eddie and sister Mary.

She had an Irish twinkle, a kind and generous heart and an unmistakable sincerity to anyone she met. She kept her Rosary at her bedside and said The Prayer of Mother Theresa every night. She never needed or wanted much for herself, but was always giving much to others. Her physical presence will be missed by all who knew her, but her stories through countless happy memories will remain.

Catherine is survived by her two sons, Steve and Don, both of Scarborough, her daughter Catherine Tarbox and her husband Michael Tarbox and her grandson Campbell Tarbox of Limerick. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald K. Campbell in 2009; her daughter-in-law, Janet Campbell; as well as her first grandson, Cooper Edward Campbell.

Many thanks to the caregivers at New England Cancer Specialists in Scarborough and at Gosnell Hospice House.

An opportunity to raise a glass in her regard will be forthcoming this Spring. Arrangements are under the direction of Conroy-Tully Walker Funeral Home, 1024 Broadway, South Portland, ME.
