SACO — Scott M. Pierson, aged 59, died on Sunday, April 29, 2018. He passed away at Southern Maine Medical Center after a brave battle with diabetes and complications from this terrible disease.

Scott was a gentle soul who loved and accepted everyone for who they were. He was always happy to talk with you and had kind words for all. Scott had the wonderful talent of entering a room full of strangers and leaving it with a roomful of new friends. One of his most precious gifts was his sense of humor. When telling a story or listening to a joke, his eyes would get a marvelous sparkle and his mouth would twist up because he would be trying not to laugh. That is how he will hopefully be remembered.

Scott loved hunting and fishing. He would fish from the breakwater in Camp Ellis when he was at home in Saco hoping for a Bluefish. When at his family cottage in Tenants Harbor, the fishing would happen from one of his brother’s boats or from the Cold Storage wharf in Port Clyde. He was also fond of playing croquet with his brothers, cousins, and nieces and nephews at the cottage. The most enjoyed but dangerous games were night time hide and seek!

Scott was an avid Patriots Football fan and would often call to see if you were watching “the game”.

Scott leaves behind: two brothers, Mark Pierson and Dale Pierson; a daughter, Kimberly Coffin and her husband, Jerrad Coffin; four grandchildren, Ayana, Jeremiah, Tyson, and Christopher Coffin. He also has two sisters-in-law, and two nieces and two nephews who will miss him.

Scott was preceded in death by: his parents, Malcolm and Shirley Pierson; a brother, Bruce Pierson; and a sister, Paula Pierson. Scott was loved by so many, especially his four grandchildren who called him Papa. He will be missed.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Dennett, Craig and Pate, 365 Main St. in Saco, Maine. A gathering for family and friends will be held in Tenants Harbor this summer.

For those wishing to make memorial contributions in Scott’s memory please consider the Saco Fire Department, 271 North St., Saco, Maine 04072.
