LYMAN — Jules Leo Caouette, 66, a resident of Shore Road in Lyman, died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at his home while fishing off his boat in Kennebunk Pond.

He was born in Biddeford on July 17, 1949, a son of Lucien Roger and Renee (Jourdain) Caouette. He graduated from Biddeford High School and Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute of South Portland.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and was employed by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a nuclear inspector for 36 years. He retired in 2010.

He was an avid fisherman, loved his dogs, enjoyed smoking a good cigar, and loved to spend time with his family and friends.

He is survived by: his parents of Biddeford; his wife of 18 years, Joyce (Folsom) Caouette of Lyman; a son, Shannon Caouette of Lyman; a brother, Andre Caouette and his wife Marilyn of West Kennebunk; a sister, Jeanne Breton of San Francisco, California; a brother-in-law, Stephen Folsom of Montpelier, Vermont; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk, with military honors presented at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Springvale.
