BIDDEFORD — Albert F. Cabana Jr., 76, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 28, 2014.

He was born on July 31, 1938 in Saco, the son of Albert Cabana Sr. and Yvonne Cabana.

He graduated from St. Louis High School in 1957.

He spent four years in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Limestone.

On Sept. 15, 1962, he married Rachel Ross, and they began their journey together of love and family for 52 years.

Albert worked at the Saco Tannery and later at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He retired from the Shipyard as a crane operator instructor.

During his retirement, he enjoyed spending his winters in Newport Richey, Florida and summers in Biddeford. He had just sold their home in Florida, and he was looking forward to his first winter in Maine in a long time.

He is survived by: his wife, Rachel; his sons, Brian Cabana and his wife Susan and David Cabana and wife Gina; his daughter, Deborah Laverriere and her husband Larry; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Jessica, Devon, Deborah Jo, Allen and Naomi; his sisters, Aline Cabana, Margaret Bolduc, Jeanne Scribner and Paulette LaBrecque; and his brother, Robert Cabana.

As a husband, father, brother and friend, he deeply touched our lives and will be greatly missed.

Visiting hours will be 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday at Hope Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Albert’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
