BIDDEFORD — No one was injured during a fire at a multi-family residence in Biddeford on Wednesday.

The call to 37 Emery St. came in at approximately 2 p.m., said Biddeford Fire Capt. Rick Dussault.

“There was no smoke showing,” he said, when Biddeford firefighters responded to the scene.

The fire occurred in the kitchen of the second-story, front apartment, said Dussault.

“The fire was quickly put out,” he said, but there was extensive damage.

Because of the amount of damage, occupants of the unit where the fire occurred have not been allowed to return to their apartment, said Dussault. The other tenants of the three-story, six-unit building were all allowed to return home.

On Tuesday, Dussault said, an investigation into the cause of the fire was ongoing.

According to Biddeford property records, the building is owned by Lourens J. and Adria O. Horn, who live in Hollis Center.

In addition to Biddeford, other towns whose fire departments responded to the scene included Saco, Goodwins Mills and Scarborough.
